A beautiful start

Okay so this is kind of my first post, so I bear with me I don’t really know what I’m doing to be honest.

Day 1

It started off honestly a little rough. I didn’t get much sleep on the plane as I made my way along the 14 hour journey across the Atlantic to Lisbon. I arrived at around 8:00AM local time and could barely think straight. The uber ride to the Hostel was great, but I was way too early to check in to the Hostel. I ended up doing some sightseeing in my zombie-like state just walking around the area. First impressions: BEAUTIFUL city. Just incredible views all around.

Apparently I picked a great hostel to start off my experience with the hostel life. Home Lisbon Hostel is one of the highest rated hostels in the world and has won multiple awards for the quality. I will admit, It’s pretty nice. They have events every day, delicious breakfast in the morning and amazing homemade dinners in the evening where everyone sits down at this massive 20+ ft table to eat “Mama’s dinners”. One of the most incredible atmospheres of any place I’ve been before. The social atmosphere is filled with amazing people who are all traveling for one reason or another from all over the world. Mostly other places around Europe, but it’s incredible to meet so many unique people.

Day 2

Sleeeeeeeep. Dealing with jet lag is a little tough, so sleeping through the day is sadly a necessity. The meals at the hostel are my saviour and an absolute treat.

Day 3

Halloween is surprisingly a thing here! Everyone was dressed up in some incredible costumes! The hostel had an outing to sign up for and we had a massive group go to YES! Hostel for their Halloween party. Apparently these two hostels are meeting up regularly to do events together. They make it so easy to be social and find a group to hang out with. I quickly found a group, made a group chat, and stuck with them for the rest of the night. We even rented the bird scooters to ride back to our hostel at the end of the night. I would put a picture of us here, but I think it’s best to preserve their identities.

Day 4

With the newly made group, we decided to hang out for the day together. We were gonna go on the walking tour with the hostel, but they left a little early for our liking. The whatsapp group for the hostel had a live location of the tour, so we tried to meet up with them and ended up just doing our own route through the city. We stopped for some juice at a little shop and were on our way.

Okay I think I’m gonna end this entry here. I’m not really sure what I want this to be, but for now it a log of some of the cool stuff along my travels.
