The ghost city of France

My Intro to Lyon

Since I spent more days than anticipated in Paris, I ended up only booking 2 nights in Lyon. I booked a hotel since hostels are not really a thing there. When I showed up, it looked like a ghost city. I saw a few people here and there, but I was expecting a lot more for the second most populus city in France. It wasn’t until the next day that I found out where the people were.

Walking forever

I was feeling pretty decent during my only full day in Lyon, so I decided to do some exploring to find where all the people were hiding. It was a super windy day, so walking accross the bridges was actually kinda dangerous. I looked it up and the wind speed got up to 60mph. Anyways, I walked to the confluence area and found more of nobody there. It was pretty cool looking though.

After about 45 minutes of walking, I decided to go north to the the art museum “Musée des beaux arts de Lyon”. Crossing under the train, I finally found where all the people were hiding! Lots of cool shops and restaurants as I got closer to the museum. I ended up spending about 2 hours in the museum which had some really cool art in it. The first floor was all a bunch of old artifacts and sculptures dating as far back as ancient egypt while the second floor was full of some incredible paintings. Some of them were massive as well (20ft x 15ft)+. This was a really interesting experience, but the only downside was most of it was not translated to english and I wasn’t able to read any of the descriptions.

Food?

I managed to make it into a brewery for an early dinner and ended up eating some delicious sea bass. The best part of the meal was a dessert of some fancy cheese. Literally that was it. Just a plate with some cheese on it. I could not have been more happy to be there.
