Sad days in Paris
Getting There
I figured I’d mention this since it was probably the most annoying part of my trip so far. I got on the train to Paris which I had to reserve a seat for using the Eurail website. This sends you a reservation ticket to be scanned by the ticket collector once you are on the train. Anyways, I’m about 30 minutes from Paris when the ticket collector comes by and she scans the ticket. Only issue is she didn’t leave and kept asking me for something else. After a few seconds, I realize she is asking for my Eurail ticket since the reservation QR code just means you reserved the seat. I then went to the app on my phone and started going through the (very short) process of using a travel day on my pass to enable the QR code. Apparently this took too long because the ticket collector got angry and claimed that I should have done that before we left and demanded I pay 50 Euros for the train ticket. I decided to de-escalate the situation and just pay up only to realize shortly after that I had used up the travel day and I couldn’t take it back. This was definitely the most annoying part of my trip, so far (besides getting sick).
First Days
I arrived in a downpour. This is not much of a problem except for the fact that I’m trying to get over a sickness. I arrived at the hostel and got in my room before realizing I didn’t have the energy to do much else and my sickness had gotten to it’s peak. I spent the rest of my days in that hostel in my bunk bed trying not to disrupt my roommates and only leaving for food occasionally. I didn’t get to experience much at all there.
The best experience of that stay was the day of snow that I got to experience while I was there. I could tell it’s not a common thing in Paris since I remember seeing two grown men having a snowball fight with the small amount of snow that stuck to the ground.

Transfer to hotel
I decided to stay a couple more days in Paris and book a hotel to try to recover. This helped a ton. I stayed at the 1k in Le Marais which was incredibly comfortable. This gave me enough energy after the first night to go explore the next day. This made the trip so much more worth it.

More Crepes
At the end of my time in that area, I went to get crepes with a Parisian friend I had met earlier on my trip. These crepes were some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Just other-worldly.
